Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy has a surprisingly huge scope of practice, making it an excellent choice for not only relaxation purposes, but therapeutic ones as well. Classically, it uses Swedish massage techniques to help relax tight muscles and improve localized circulation. It can also be very therapeutic in nature and use more advanced techniques such as joint mobilizations (<grade 4), myofascial release, hydrotherapy, craniosacral release… you name it!

Every therapist has their own style and finesse (as with most things in life) which is a huge benefit for clients who are looking for something different than what they already have, or maybe just getting their feet wet. Finding someone you connect with who will be able to modify and adapt according to your various needs at each appointment is important.

Meet our Massage Therapists

Heather is a graduate of the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy and received her Massage Therapy registration in 2000. She provides therapeutic and relaxation treatments with a holistic approach, focusing on the health and wellness of the body and mind. She helps clients alleviate and manage chronic pain, headaches, increase mobility and flexibility, and decrease feelings of stress and anxiety. She incorporates home care into treatment plans, using deep stretching techniques to help prolong the beneficial effects of Massage Therapy.

She is a passionate, lifelong learner who has continued education as means to pursue her many interests. This includes the study of Reflexology and earning diplomas in both Holistic Nutrition and Diabetes Education. She approaches her own self-care holistically, utilizing the regular practice of yoga and meditation to nurture her physical, mental and emotional health and well-being.

Birgit has been an RMT since 1988 when Massage Therapy was in its infancy in Ontario. She owned a clinic and worked full-time in Waterloo for 10 years. Since then, she has been working part-time. She uses essential oils in combinations with deep-tissue massage to help her clients walk away feeling their best.

As a young girl growing up in Germany, Massage Therapy treatments became a key part of Birgit’s health regime. She has been interested in natural therapies and healing ever since. Her clinical focus is on helping clients suffering from low back, spine, hip, knee, shoulder, and neck dysfunctions. She also does relaxation treatments to help alleviate muscular tension from stress.

Birgit is bilingual, speaking both German and English. When she is not doing massage, you can find her on the family farm, selling strawberries on their Erie St. strawberry farm, or spending time with her family.

Jelena became a Registered Massage Therapist in 2021 after spending four years working in theatre and storytelling. She enjoyed the mental challenge of learning anatomy and physiology in college. She now utilizes that knowledge, in combination with her yoga experience and other calming modalities, to provide clients with a relaxing massage treatment that is tailored to each person’s preferences.

Her treatments include Swedish massage, gentle cupping, head massage, breathing exercises, and relaxing music to help stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system (calming effect). She can also help you find appropriate stretches or exercises to do at home, so that positive treatment effects are longer-lasting.

Connie is a Registered Massage Therapist who graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 2012. She has a whole-Being approach to massage and enjoys giving therapeutic relaxation massages. After working many years at the Langdon Hall Hotel and Spa, she has decided to join the group of practitioners at StillPoint Wellness Centre.

Connie has a diverse background from organic farming, to chaplaincy, to Registered Psychotherapy, giving her a unique understanding of health and well-being. Her experience working with trauma has informed her understanding of the interconnectedness of the mind, body and soul in humanity and its importance to healing.
